An Amazing Aquarium Adventure

What a great last few days we've had in Langkawi. This evening we leave for Kuala Lumpur. I got up early in the morning and headed over to the beautifully serene Pantai Cenang Beach. I enjoyed my last few moments there in the waves. At last, I left the beach and headed towards the Underwater World Langkawi, the last attraction I wanted to see on the amazing island of Langkawi. As I went into the aquarium, I reminisced about the many things we did in Langkawi until now. From going to beaches to cablecars to even a trip in a mangrove, the past week has been an impeccable experience, except for freaking out in the cable car, of course.

I go into the aquarium not expecting much. My expectations were thrown out of the window, to say the least. The aquarium opened up into a beautiful lush tropical rainforest-like area, with trees and the correct humidity. I learned that this aquarium has all sorts of birds along with all sorts of marine life. I was dumbfounded when I saw flamingoes. I didn't come into this aquarium expecting flamingoes. They weren't very pink but still, they were an amazing sight to behold. I saw various other colorful tropical birds, until we headed inside, where we got to see penguins.

The penguins were just as excited as us. They were jumping and swimming and even following us as we walked around. What a great time I had there! Then we went into an underwater tunnel, where we saw more penguins and seals swim on top of us. It was awesome to look at. Next, we got to see a bunch of rays, like stingrays swimming in an open-top habitat. I was lucky enough to go there when it was feeding time. It's just amazing how rays swim. It's almost as if they are flying in the water. When we walked through the door to the next exhibit. It was a bunch of jellyfish on either side of us. The jellyfish were swimming around and having fun. I had a great time just staring at them. Then, we entered the coral reef exhibit. Fish of all sorts of colors, varieties, species, and sizes swam about in a giant tank. I thought out the door was the exit, so I walked out. To my surprise, I was greeted by a beautiful koi pond, with a waterfall rushing through. What a sight to see.

It was lunchtime, by the time we left the aquarium. I was able to find a McDonalds right beside the aquarium. So I went in and saw the menu. They were offering a happy meal. I thought why not make myself even happier. That happy meal, made me remember my first happy meal, back when I was 5. What a great memory. After eating, I left for the hotel, to bring my bags. After that, we headed to the airport. Then, whoosh! A military jet flies over our heads. I found out that in the coming week, the LIMA(Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition) was taking place. I even managed to snap a photo of one of those planes. After that, I left for the airport. In the airport, there was a small wait time, before we boarded. But even boarding was an experience. We had to walk over to the airplane and climb the stairs. Langkawi's airport was one of the more unique ones that I had ever seen. We took off and started back to Kuala Lumpur.

During my time at the aquarium, I learned that even a simple trip to an attraction such as an aquarium, can make you feel extremely happy and joyful. I felt many emotions like excitement and even a tinge of sadness that we were leaving the island. I also learned a key lesson, you don't know what emotions you'll feel when you do something until and unless you go and do it. I recommend you guys visit in July to avoid most of the rainfall. But if you want to see LIMA, definitely plan accordingly. Please share any of your joyful moments in the comments and I'll be sure to reply. As always keep on learning and I'll catch you in my next blog.

Yours Sincerely,

Learning Through Expeditions

A Place Forgotten by History: Cumbum Lake

In  early October 2022, my family and I traveled to a town in the Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh for my aunt and uncle's housewarming celebration. As soon as we arrived, we realized that my aunt and uncle were busy preparing for the housewarming, and we had nothing to do there.         My uncle recommended going to "Cumbum Cheruvu" with our cousins. At first, we were perplexed since that "cheruvu" means pond in Telugu. When I researched it on the Internet, I found its rich history and geography.  We set off and reached in about 30 minutes. When we pulled up, we were honestly shocked, as we were of the misleading notion that we were visiting a pond. Translated into English, "Cumbum Cheruvu" actually becomes "Cumbum Lake".  To call it a "pond" was an awfully minimalistic way to describe “Cumbum Lake” In actuality, the “pond” was enormous it was the size of a large lake, which had a calm sur...

Picturesque Putrajaya

After arriving from Langkawi on a pleasant flight back, I found out about this place called Putrajaya. Putrajaya serves as the administrative and judicial capital of Malaysia. It's only a short drive of 25 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur. When I asked my uncle about it, he explained that its peaceful and charming nature makes it a great place to visit. At first, I was quite skeptical. With acquiescence, I agreed to go to  w hat I had envisioned as a bunch of boring government buildings and an unremarkable mosque. Putrajaya blew my expectations out of the water. Honestly, I couldn't have been more wrong.      On arrival, I was blown away by the beauty of the lake integrated with the city's planning. Let's get this out of the way, the buildings themselves looked very modern and technologically advanced. Even the buildings exceeded my expectations by a mile. Now I was very excited to see all the other places. I stood right in front of the dock in the sh...

A Relic of Hyderabad's Past: Charminar

Whew! The Charminar is quite the sight. It stands  near the center of Hyderabad.  My family and I  decided to go there last Sunday. It is the month  of Ramadan. The usually busy Charminar Market  is even more crowded. The rush was on a different  level. So many vendors, all shouting, calling people  to buy their products. We had to get from one side  of the market to the other. The distance is around  three hundred  meters. On a   clear path, it would  take perhaps five minutes at the most. It took us forty- five minutes. You can imagine how crowded it  must have been. Little stalls selling bangles, necklaces, clothing, and whatnot.  When we came through and made it to the other side we were exhausted. After that, my family did some shopping. I went over to a nearby confectionery and bought some snacks. From there we went to Hotel Shadab, a restaurant of great renown, a kilometer away. It took...
